A New Journey Begins

So I am sitting here tapping away at my good ol' laptop (I call her Lucy, short for Lusitania) and think about this "blogging" thing.

There are so many internet sensations or what-have-you, but the one they seem to have in common is that people have ideas that they want to get out there and share with others. However, some people blog for the inverse reason, I don't want to share my ideas, per se, I just want some medium to attempt to rip my obscure and seemingly random thoughts out of my mind and place them upon. More so a journal than a website; a "mind dump" than a conversation; a spew of meaningless drivel than a fountain of intelligible thought.

On that note, what propels to do the things we do, say the things we say, and most importantly, care about what we care about.

I have several things I enjoy doing that are very contradictory. I love riding my bicycle, and yet, I love playing video games... two things that are remarkably difficult to do at the same time. This is an ongoing problem with many people, especially those with hobbies or lives (one doesn't necessarily imply or exclude the other), that is commonly referred to as balance.

That leads into my actual point, what am I doing here? I love to cycle, but with the weather pushing over 100° by 8 AM, it's hard. So what do I do? Instead of getting up early to enjoy the gorgeous dawn weather, I play World of Warcraft.

That's no so much a problem as it is a compromise.

By tracking my own progress in both fields, I may be able to push myself to balance at least these two things in my life, and maybe even get a little trickle down effect into things that actually matter in life.
